Zapier MCP Server
With Zapier MCP you can create connections with thousands of apps and services without any programming knowledge. You create an MCP server at Zapier and add it to AI-Public as a connection.
What is Zapier MCP?
Zapier MCP is a platform that lets you connect AI assistants to external applications. At Zapier you create an MCP server that makes tools available to AI-Public, for example for retrieving data, creating a task or sending a message. You decide yourself in Zapier which tools are available.
Benefits
- No code required: Visual configuration in Zapier
- Thousands of apps: Integrations with Google, Microsoft, Slack and CRM systems, among others
- Quick to set up: A working connection within minutes
- You decide: For each MCP server you choose which tools the AI may use
Step-by-step guide
Step 1: Sign in to Zapier MCP
- Go to https://mcp.zapier.com
- Sign in with an existing Zapier account or create a new account
- You will be redirected to the MCP dashboard
Step 2: Create a new MCP server
- Click "New MCP Server"
- Select "Other" as the client
- Give the server a name (e.g. "Case management connection")
- Click "Add Tools"
Step 3: Add integrations
- Search for the app you want to connect
- Select which actions you want to add
- Authorize the connection with your account
- Configure any filters or restrictions
Tools of the "Take action" type can write data in the connected applications, for example send a message or create a record. Only add actions you really need.
Step 4: Copy the server URL
On the Connect tab you see two connection options:
- Server-Specific URL: direct access without an extra sign-in. Treat this URL like a password; anyone who has the URL can use your tools.
- OAuth Server URL: asks you to sign in to Zapier first. This is safer for shared use.
Copy the URL you want to use.
Step 5: Add to AI-Public
- In AI-Public, go to the dashboard.
- In the Tools block, click Add connection.
- Choose Add your own MCP server and click Configure.
- Under Connection name, enter a recognizable name and paste the Zapier URL under HTTP URL of the MCP server.
- Under Authentication type, choose None for a Server-Specific URL, or OAuth 2.1 for an OAuth Server URL.
- Click Add.
- Click the new connection in the Tools block to start a chat and test the connection. With OAuth 2.1 you are asked to sign in to Zapier the first time you use it.
Administrators can also make a Zapier MCP server available for the whole environment via Admin environment → Tools → MCP → Add MCP server. See Tools.
Popular integrations
| App | Possible tools |
|---|---|
| Google Sheets | Add rows, retrieve data, create spreadsheets |
| Slack | Send messages, read channels |
| Trello | Create cards, view boards |
| HubSpot | Consult contacts and deals |
| Notion | Search pages and databases |
Security tips
- Limit tools: Only activate the tools you really need
- No write permissions unless needed: Choose read-only tools where possible
- Protect the URL: Do not share a Server-Specific URL, and replace it if it may have leaked
- Use OAuth: For shared use, use the OAuth Server URL
Costs
Zapier MCP has a free tier with limited capabilities. More tasks or advanced integrations require a paid Zapier subscription.
